About Archival Pigment Fine Art Prints

Prints are made by a precision inkjet print process using archival pigment inks on fine art paper. Most are printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Pearl, a 100% cotton fiber paper with a subtle smooth surface. Selected photographs are printed on Hahnemühle’s William Turner paper, a mold-made watercolor paper with a textured matte finish that I love for particular atmospheric images. Both papers are acid- and lignin-free and provide exceptional longevity.

All prints are offered in limited editions with small edition sizes, in many cases nine prints per edition. Each available print size is issued as a separate edition.

Each print is signed and numbered in the lower margin, in pencil or gray archival ink, depending on the paper surface. A stamped label on the back (verso) of the print lists the title, date of the photograph, date of the print, dimensions, edition size, and paper type. A matching certificate of authenticity with the same information is provided.

Photos are printed with a white border on all sides. This makes it easier to handle the print, and it allows the print to be matted with the signature and print number visible below the image. The dimensions listed are always the dimensions of the printed image area, excluding the white border.

Print Sizes and Pricing

Available print sizes vary by photograph and depend on the aspect ratio of the image. Prices for most available prints are based on the longer dimension. Typical prices are listed below. All dimensions are for the printed image area, exclusive of white borders.

Framing

Prints are sold unframed. I don’t generally ship framed prints because of the high cost of shipping and risk of breakage. Gallery-quality framing may be available for local New York City purchases, using 8-ply archival mats and premium UV70 non-glare glass. Contact me to inquire about availability and pricing.

When you contact me about a print purchase, I will confirm the available print sizes, paper type, edition size and previous prints sold, price, and lead time. Once we confirm the details, I will send an invoice by e-mail with an easy, secure link to pay online via Square.

Why Can’t I Buy Online?

Prints are not currently available to purchase directly on my website because detailed descriptions and edition information may vary from photograph to photograph, and availability of a particular photograph may change over time. In addition, I am both the photographer and the shipping department—so if I’m away from my studio, then lead time may be slower than usual. I want you to know exactly what to expect before you buy a print, and to have full confidence in the quality of the artwork you’re purchasing, whether that takes a single e-mail or a detailed conversation.

In the age of smartphones and AI, images are everywhere and they are easier to generate every day. If you are considering buying a print directly from a photographer, chances are you find something worthwhile in knowing that photograph was created by a real person, in a real place, at a real moment in time.
